White Stuff Case study

In June 2021, at the height of the COVID-19 lockdowns, the popular British fashion retailer, White Stuff, was facing increasing difficulties servicing their stores in the Republic of Ireland.

Customs and export changes following Brexit had made it difficult to service their stores and customers in the Republic of Ireland. They needed a fast, workable solution and needed it urgently.

Having heard of Widem’s European logistics expertise from others in the retail business, Charlotte Harding, White Stuff’s Head of Outbound Transport, got in touch. The team at Widem recognised the issues and the need for a swift response; they swung into action, implementing a “one-stop-shop” solution.

Within a few days, Widem vehicles were collecting from White Stuff’s UK distribution centre, routing their products through Dover with documentation prepared by Widem’s customs experts, and into Belgium where they cleared customs into the EU, before being forwarded immediately to the ROI.

Widem’s unique combination of UK resources, frequent cross-channel transport and large scale fulfilment centres just the other side of the Channel in the EU, ensured that the whole operation took less than 24 hours to complete. And all at a competitive cost. White Stuff stores in the ROI were soon receiving the service levels they needed, with customers once more able to rely on a fast and efficient service.

Widem has been our international logistics partner for over two years now. During this time, they have helped us to provide a first-class service to our retail stores and wholesale customers in the EU. In this post-Brexit landscape, achieving fast and reliable service levels at competitive rates is critical for our business – and Widem’s comprehensive solution is vital to support this.
